We  have a group on here called 90 for 90  that supports the 90 for 90 movement regarding A GOTV effort regarding  a huge civil rights leader named Dr. Fergie Reid Sr. who will be 99 this month.  99!!!!  This is a surprise for him for his birthday.  A zoom meeting who is an expert on how to  teach us exactly how to do this effectively,  Instead of a cake, the organization wants him to speak to his followers and meet them via zoom.

The CEO of the group 90 for 90 in Virginia sent me this message today and I am passing it on to you folks who know WE HAVE TO VOTE and GOTV this year up and down the ballot.  Florida is in big play.  The entire country is at stake this time around.

Fergie will be 99 on Monday, March 18. Fergie and Jackie have moved back to the East Coast and are living in Delaware with their daughter. They are both relatively healthy and Fergie is as sharp as ever. Since he is always wanting to have a zoom meeting to talk politics, what do you think about having a zoom birthday party? The call will take place in the evening. I'm trying to gather as many Fergie fans as possible. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please share the email. I will need their contact information for the zoom invitation.I sent you an email. If you want in on the Fergie party send me an email address to use for the zoom party.

William Ferguson Reid (1925-  ) was the first African American elected to the General Assembly in the twentieth century. A medical doctor and community leader in the city of Richmond, Reid was one of the founders of the Crusade for Voters, organized in 1955 and one of the most formidable political organizations in the state. It lobbied for voter registration among African Americans, conducted get-out-the-vote drives, and enabled Reid to win a seat in the House of Delegates from the city of Richmond in 1967 on his second try. Reid served three terms in the assembly. Afterward he was a regional medical officer for the United States Department of State. Reid was the only African American in the General Assembly when he took office in 1968. In 2000 there are fifteen.

This is 90 for 90

On his 90th birthday, groups of people pledged to get out 90 votes each for his 90th Birthday.  It worked like a charm.  If you can’t reach 90...you get out the vote to as many as you can.

The 90 for 90 campaign, organized by Chesterfield County, Virginia Democrats in 2015 to encourage broader voter participation especially in gerrymandered precincts, was organized in honor of Reid's 90th birthday.

I drove from Florida to Washington in 2015 to try and get the Medal of Freedom nominated for Dr, Reid.  I will try again this year.  I also went to CSpan to ask them to invite him on air.  I had the pleasure of meeting he and Fergie Jr.

As you can see..my husband is taking these images of which we own.  He and daughter took all pics with Dr Reid Sr and Jr.  We also have their permission to share.

Daily Kos is supportive of 90 for 90 and I think we should do this for his birthday this year and contact below if interested in participating in his party.

Please email 90 for 90  per their request if you would like to be involved in this zoom meetup.
