The Great Walkoff ( chatter in the air)

What would happen if the government does not open by midnight tomorrow, at one minute past minute, everything came to a halt in soladarity?

What if 45 could not get a Big Mac, a KFC chicken wing or fast food shake?   What would happen if everybody just turned off their work computers, their assembly line, closed their drive throughs, shut down all retail, and walked away with a sign in the window saying, “ Closed until the government opens for longer than two weeks”.  What would happen?  I predict with people being grounded...and only first responders and pharmacy and hospitals being open, the money machine would pitch a fit to open the government. Not to mention, no fuel demands as cars would come to a halt pretty soon and no traveling.

Just imagine, if everyone in America, and not everyone would but enough to hit hard to actually get something done.  Just imagine.  A general strike across America and a strike that stays down until all 800K workers are back at work and getting paid.   A strike to stop the bullying from an out of control president throwing temper tantrums.

No planes, no trains, no subways, nada.

What would happen?

Many of those workers are veterans and they stood on foreign shores for this?

People are choosing between chemo and food.  People are facing homelessness.

This is a non functioning government.

We are about to get involved with Venezuela and what was with Pence telling a country to overthrow their government?   I thought he like Trump was America First.  Just more BS from this administration except today Trump said we would use military force if necessary to out the leader of Venezuela.  They can’t even run their own business in a country, much less another’s.  I don’t know enough about Venezuela to talk the points of government but I do know this country should practice what they preach because we have some human rights abuses going on right here in this country that starts and ends with this administration.

Hundreds of thousands of people not getting paid and doing without?  This is winter time.

Where is the soladarity?  When one person is not getting paid, then we are all slaves if this is truly America?  All over a stupid wall that won’t work.

is hard to understate the utter disdain and contempt being shown by President Donald Trump toward the 800,000 federal workers whose lives he has upended with the government shutdown.

That 400,000 of them have to continue to work without pay, because they are deemed essential, reduces them to a form of serfdom which  really amounts to a massive abuse of human rights.

In our debased state as debt slaves, with tens of millions of us struggling week to week to make ends meet, its hard to see any vestige of the courage possessed by our Revolutionary War ancestors who put everything at risk to fight off the tyranny of a distant monarch who at the time ruled a global empire.

January 20, 2019 — AFA International President Sara Nelson accepted the 2019 AFL-CIO MLK Drum Major for Justice Award, with a call to conference activists from across the Labor Movement to talk with their union leadership about conducting a General Strike to end the Government Shutdown.
