Texas-based Southwest Key has grown quickly in recent years, fueled by surges of young Central Americans seeking refuge north, an expansion that has helped push annual compensation for the nonprofit’s chief executive, Juan Sanchez, to nearly $1.5 million, filings with the Internal Revenue Service show. The organization now houses 5,129 immigrant children in three states — approaching half the approximately 11,400 currently in federal custody — in facilities that are being strained to capacity, according to Sanchez.
The two dirt soccer fields behind the big-box store weren’t enough space for all the boys who wanted to play. And he said the food was terrible.
“They gave us a bit of bread, a nasty egg and some beans and an apple and some milk,” he said, describing breakfast. “Everyone complained about the food.”
Summertime is a time for play and should be worry free without schoolbooks and worrying about where your parents are. Summertime is supposed to be about the fishing hole, swimming, playing ball, spending as much time as you can with your family and friends. Today in Trumpworld, children are gazing out of peep holes waving to reporters ( according to the article) and going to school in shifts. They only get an hour outside and have no clue where their parents are.
We have to stand up to this tiny man with the tiny hands who is appearing more like a dictator and oppressing people more and more. Look at your own children, grandchildren, and think how you would feel if someone snatched your kids and put them in a big box storage area, feeding them a nasty egg, an apple and some milk. This is good storage compared to the new tent cities being erected. HHS and this government contracted these concentration camps in OUR NAME… America.
Imagine if you will, that if you fled to Canada, and they did this to you and your children? The way things are going with the oppression, some will be fleeing to other countries very soon if we don’t stand up and take this country in a direction other than MAGA bull. 45 wants people to sit up and pay attention like people do for King Jong Un. That won’t be me .
He claims this is a democratic ruled law. That is a lie. First of all if democrats had imposed a law such as this, then he would have already appealed it. Why? Because it would have been a dem law. This is a new zero tolerance policy that began in May 2018.
We do have to vote in the midterms but I do not trust the powers that be to allow us to have fair elections, especially with interference from Russia still happening and the admiration that Trump has for dictators. This is our country. This is our tax dollars. This is who we are today if we stay silent, in our homes, and complaining on blogs and to those in power who are cowered down to the Trump.
It is past time to have a massive strike and outcry. It is time to quit funding these people who use the Bible as a scapegoat for the sins and evil they do. It is time to rise up as Americans before he does another thing to harm us all. Feel the fascism? It is easy to bully little children and the poor. This is how Nazi Germany started and we are well underway to becoming a Banana Republic.
I do not care if this happened under a Republican or Democratic Administration...It is wrong. This is the 21st century and being run by a lot of cowardly grifters, thieves and thugs. Put down your phones, put down your obession with America’s Got Talent, your gif from Facebook and Put down your sports team bets and instead, look very hard into your soul, your children’s eyes, and YOUR wallet. This is not who we are. Are you going to fly your flag right side up this 4th of July? It is time to take a stand.
