I hated to wade into these waters but finally, I must. If you like Hillary, that is cool. I have many friends on here who do support Hillary. I love them no matter who they are voting for. I have finally decided to say I will absolutely vote for Bernie. This has been a very hard decision to come to. I would be for Bernie one week and Hillary the next so I took time with no influence except my own reasons.
I can say some of the supporters did not sway me in that direction. They actually were being hard on the Hillary supporters and it was almost a Bernie vote turn off, so I wanted to weigh in on why I will get into the political revolution. I do not particuliarly like the term, Feel the Bern. That is not why I am voting Sanders. The reasons I am voting this way is because of the reasons I was counting of why I was going to vote Hillary and it did not add up to a good enough reason. I felt no one could possibly get the vote out for a self described democratic socialist no matter how good the ideas. I felt it was Hillary’s turn and being a woman, I believe it was past due for a woman Commander in Chief. who was a democrat. I did not support Hillary in 08. It was her time this time. I then watched her remain calm during the hearings. I knew she had a lifetime of service working in politics. I added up the fact she had fire in her and had Bill right there with her. I loved her smile. All of these reasons were pulling me to Hillary… She had experience but still I was torn.. I then spent a week going over some things that bothered me.
It bothered me that Hillary has flipflopped on some issues especially regarding the Iraq War which she supported. Yes she said it was a mistake but I wondered if she would have admitted that had she not been running for office. People do no like to admit bloodshed vote mistakes. I remembered her going to the extreme conservative side meeting with Fox News owner and it appeared to me...pandering. I remember her cozy relationship with Newt Gingrich and Daddy Bush. I even remembered George Carlin saying that it was a small club and we weren’t in it. She was absolutely in that club. She is one of 44 in that club.
x YouTube VideoI never remember Hillary working as hard as Sen. Sanders for those who borne the battle. I then remembered that Ted Kennedy did not endorse her in 08. He had worked tireless on disability, and healthcare issues…..why did he not endorse Hillary? He seemed very close to the Clintons. I decided he thought probably like us that he was voting for a change ….a progressive change. I do not know that answer. I then pondered over all the baggage and hatred for the Clintons. I then reminded myself that no matter what, there will be die hards who no matter how liberal some men say they are, absolutely will not vote for a woman….True and sad. That also includes some dutiful wives as well. The country just has not evolved that far.
The African American got half a vote long before the woman was allowed a single vote. That kills the argument that if an African American could be voted in, then so could a woman. I just don’t know but I know many people who claim they are religious, will never vote for a woman to be Commander in Chief. They will not put party over their personal beliefs. I am not one of those narrow minded sexist people but I know plenty who would vote for Bill if possible but not Hillary. Bill is a Clinton and hated but some many would vote Bill over Hillary. Hillary is a woman and never forget the right winged tea party has pushed us backwards...maybe pre Obama. If we were so equal then why is equal pay still below a man’s? The ceiling has cracks but not broken and should not be broken this time based on ” It is her time” “ She has earned the position due to her lifelong service” alone but voting for the one who can move us forward and who has been consistent. I got somewhat disappointed last time I voted for REAL CHANGE. I would like to believe it truly exists. I did not want disappointment again so I am thinking , “ Where is Hillary’s real stand”?
I have to vote for the one who does not feel they have to change a position to gain a vote ..my vote or embellish some life experience. I thought back to the sniper fire claim. This type of thing can be a vote killer as much as a self described socialist that I felt did not have a chance to win. We have to remember this is 2016 but a percentage of people in their misguided minds still think a man should be the Head. Some of those very same people have shed some robes and hoods during the Obama presidency and are organized into hatred. They always hated progressive but now hate based on gender and race. A small percentage but enough to make it closer than it should be and a hard climb. Bernie Sanders has stayed the course...over and over and over...and yes he has some obstacles to overcome but at least he is not taking money from the same people who stole my home and left a disabled vet’s family and many others to the mercy of the world. Wall Street and Big Banks did that. He gets my vote and that is the biggest reason despite all the other reasons I have to vote Bernie. I will not get in pie fights….over people’s choice but I wanted to state my reason why I finally came to a firm decision. I encourage people to look at these reasons I am voting Bernie but I would never discount anyone from making their own choices based on their own reasonings. I am not that kind of supporter. I would like to encourage everyone to vote for our nominee whomever it is because it will take all of us. I encourage people to be kind to one another and not get so zealous over their choice, that they hurt us overall in the general. Now you are thinking is she voting based on the fact Bernie Sanders is a man? No. I am voting because I no longer believe he is the only one that has obstacles to face and overcome and actually wants to prosecute people who took my home. I also wonder how in the world any person with a working brain cell even considers the hate filled, mean spirited representing the GOP side vote for any of their bunch when O’Malley, Hillary and Sanders on their worst day beats them one million times over to represent America...How?
Thanks for listening…
