A Holiday of empathy appreciated again! Thank you !

I laugh out loud or other wise would cry about the War on Christmas.  The only people who created a war on Christmas were the people who claim to love America but clearly hate Americans AND THEIR KIDS.

This Friday before Christmas...you again have helped some needy vets and families.   Our organization collected a total of 1475.00   There was a huge Lawn /Plastic Bag that looked clearly like Santa’s bag delivered to 2 little girls whose Mother suffers from MS and her partner is a disabled Iraq vet.   He has been unemployed for about 4 months and only a 20 percent disability.   The girls were going to get a pair of jeans and shirt and pair of socks for Christmas.  The  Mom had been buying some Happy Meals and collecting the toys.   I think 4 Happy Meals.   That ended yesterday.

With your donations, three of us delivered Barbies, a digital camera,  prepaid cell phones, 2 Barbies, Comforters for twin beds, books, Craft sets. 2 beautful 14 K heart necklaces, slippers, housecoats, wallets, Bath sets, puzzles, board games,   Barbie clothes,  pajamas, Loved the throws…..Very comfy.  clothes. and stuffed animals.   There were other Santa goodies but those stick out in my mind.   Food….Food ….Food and poinsettias for three vets and all were so appreciative.

There were Toys delivered to a Marine Toys for Tots campaign.  The Marine got some relief as we handed him an appreciative gift for standing in full dress collecting toys all day long.   I got a hug and accepted graciously for all of you.  (((Hugs)))) from the Retired Marine still serving the communities and collecting toys.

Gift certificate for a vet who is suffering from PTSD ,  Flowers for the family of a vet at Death’s door in Ga.   We also spent over a week on the phone scouting and helping secure a nursing home for another.   There was one gift also delivered to a sick veteran and hope it has been delivered… Still tracking.

We have enough left over for Registration fees and Christmas cards.

There are several more Turkey runs and one more Poinsettia delivery.   I managed to stand with Toys for Tots and encourage people to give as two people in Ga. did the same.  There were lots of little things and I have been busier than a monkey in a barrel running in circles,  overseeing and trying to make a happier holiday for those who have been left behind.   My crew and me did take $20.00  X 4 ….because we did a lot of running and special thanks to my little girl of 12 yoa who spent three solid days..helping me with suggestions and incorporating it into her Budget lessons for school.

Holidays are hard on combat vet families because children do not understand so much joy in others lives while sadness and tension and lack of bare necessities, much less extras surround them with their friends at school.   They don’t understand…. trust me on this one.   They wonder if they have been bad or why they did not get anything or much.  Many are already losing their docs and dentists.

We aim to help those we can every single year at Thanksgiving, Veterans Day, Christmas and Memorial Day and whenever we see a need.   For years I have funded so much of this relief by myself which also broke me to the bone and I thank all of you for your generosity and compassion and empathy.  For many big organizations and churches who give themselves big bonuses and budget in 100K salaries.  Shame on you.   We are lucky if we just get some gas money and never give ourselves a salary or bonus..   Some expenses like gas money does have to be met because it is mostly people of modest means doing all the work but in 17 years of doing this…..the idea is to give..NOT TAKE. We can say with pride… We do just that.  We give.   We don’t throw crumbs out from a big cake.  It hurts me to know so many so called organizations and churches do just that.  Make Cakes and throw crumbs.

There is no war on Christmas.   There is a war on people who try to show empathy and are generous.  Keep that in mind in 2018.   I love you all !!!!!! People no matter who they are or where they are from need smiles.   No one needs tears at a festive time of the year.   I think I have seen more “What’s in it for me” attitude than ever in time before..  It is discouraging but I come here and other like minded folks like you and my Merry String gets pulled out of the rut again.  I don’t post pics normally because people still have pride if they posses little else and we never want people to feel like caring is entitlement.  It is called CARING.  Love for your fellow man.   You folks do every time I ask of you and for that it is one life touching another...over and over.
