In the spirit of the Holidays, it's OK to assault women in Florida ..Let it go.

She had a legal  right according to Florida law, was to stand her ground but why was this abuser not arrested?

My daughter’s boyfriend;s mother was a victim of road rage in a Walmart parking lot.   This is one of the most outrageous things I have heard.   She came over last night to pick up her son and said day before  yesterday she was coming out of Walmart and a man of about 35 was staying on his horn and almost hit an elderly gentleman.   He was honking his horn and she bravely walked to his car and said ,”You are acting like a child”...Stop blowing the horn and scaring people.  He slapped her hard in the face and cussed her and took off.  The Walmart manager had video as other people did and they called the police but when two officers arrived and someone had gotten his tag number….Said, “In the spirit of the holidays, let it go”.  WHAT?  In the spirit of the holidays getting slapped in the face by a stranger is OK?  She asked the officer  if he had a warrant for someone, in the spirit of the holidays, would they let it go?  They did not answer.

She has had a stroke in the past  and just last week had dental surgery.  She had no clue who this person was.  She said, she maybe should have ignored him but he was upsetting people including her.   I said, “Well according to Florida law when a person  hits and  assaults  anyone, You could have shot him.  They told her she could have defended herself by that law by reason of self defense..  She didn’t have a weapon.   What was she supposed to do?  He slapped her hard enough to leave a print on her face.   No one came to her rescue including the law.

She emailed the sheriff as she wanted to press charges but the cops did not want to press charges and  I would not have let it go with the those cops.  Dereliction of duty.  She emailed the sheriff but has not heard back.   Come tomorrow in the spirit of the Holidays, I am going to call the sheriff and ask if beating women is OK during Christmas.   My Lord...there is video.  I asked her if it  was about shift change time and she said, “Yes”.  I am still very angry about this incident.   I am just glad her brother, or my husband or anyone who knows this sweet person was not witness to this…

She did put herself in harms way by confronting this person but maybe she is like the rest of us….tired of stupid, ignorant people trying to bully everyone.  He broke the law..plain and simple and he should be arrested and face a jury..   I asked her if she tried to fight back and she said, “ She almost hit the ground and he drove off.   She said she did not fight back.

Yeah, in the spirit of the holidays and my strong feelings on violence toward women…..I am going to call The Sheriff’s office to get details on just how safe we are if they don’t enforce laws?  I mean, do they expect all of us to be packing  just in case we are assaulted?   This kind of thing is what comes from Stand your Ground laws.  It seems the police don’t want to defend victims of abusers.

Had this happen to me and not a 36 year old woman, I would have gone to the hospital and filed a report from there.  She didn’t know if he injured her recent dental surgery or what?  Of course I probably would not be typing this because my family would still be looking for this guy.    They need to arrest him for no other reason other than lawbreaking  but to protect him.  He will slap the wrong stranger sooner or later and he will come across something he wouldn’t want.

In the spirit of the holidays…. Slap a woman down in a parking lot because you don’t like their opinion of how you are behaving.   Walmart should ban him as well.

I would also sue the Sheriff’s department.

I am going to get to the bottom of this for sure.   I want to know if he got out of his car or why people stood around videotaping without helping her.   Why was this assault not investigated considering the bell ringer outside witnessed this as well.  If it is like she says, I am calling the District Attorney or FDLE and find out what the Hell is the matter with our Sheriff’s department.  You can bank on one thing….I bet you dollars to donuts he was white and not black.   White privilege.

I want to find out if there was an incident report on this.  There should have been when they answered a call.   Since it was shift change and time to leave on a Friday evening...maybe not.  I want to know what happened in detail because if this is how this story went down….we are not safe to depend on the law to defend our rights or safety.
