So some don’t believe in Climate Change? Siberia ? Really.
I could go on and on about the temperatures soaring across America. Phoenix, Nevada, Louisiana,
Florida….all triple temps with heat indexes climbing higher and higher. If the grids collapse, we are in deep deep trouble.
It was close to 90 at 3AM in central Florida this morning. We are fortunate. We have AC. We have AC as long as we have a power grid functioning. Has anyone thought of this? I thought of it strongly yesterday when I came in from the Lanai and we have a rotating fan under the awing and even at that, it is still hot but it is difficult to stay cooped up in the house day after day without a break.
I came inside and it felt very warm inside the house and said, “ Has my AC gone out or what….as it was warm but two years ago bought a new Central unit. I looked at the thermostat and it was 87 degrees inside. I further investigated and somehow by accident or somehow no one owned up to turning the AC off. I was raising some extra aggravation communication demanding why the AC was off. Menopausal and post menopausal women sometimes get really aggravated when they get annoyed and especially when overheated. I turned the AC back on and the house cooled down to 78 in about an hour. It then hit me, wow….that AC was only off for a little while….what if we lose power over the power grids and overuse of the cooling units by so many.
I tend to overthink things and thought, well one could use a generator and then proceeded to think but people would run out of fuel for the generators in no time. With record setting heat waves and a few brown outs we have had, what about other areas and people who depend on AC to keep from suffering or dying from heat exhaustion.
The thought of this climate change and it’s consequences really made me appreciate the trees in the yard and how many in other areas are needing trees. Arizona and Nevada is more than sweltering and what about them? Solar is no answer in Florida because one has to go through their power companies to use. That alone is ridiculous but you know who our governor is so there is that.
When I read this, I got to thinking about the power grids again.
100-Degree Fahrenheit Temperature Confirmed in Siberia; 90s Measured at Russian Arctic Coast
- One city in northern Russia soared to 100 degrees Fahrenheit on June 20.
- This extreme temperature record was confirmed by a Russian met agency Tuesday.
- On June 30, a location along Russia's Arctic coast soared into the 90s.
- These temperatures may be the hottest on record anywhere in the Arctic.
- Siberia has seen the planet's largest temperature anomalies so far in 2020.
- This is an area more known for its extreme winter cold, rather than searing heat.
On June 20, the high temperature in Verkhoyansk, a town in northeast Russia about 260 miles south of the Arctic coast and about 6 miles north of the Arctic Circle, topped out at 38 degrees Celsius, or 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
This extreme temperature was confirmed by the Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorological and Environmental Monitoring after a request from the World Meteorological Organization, topping the city's previous record set on July 25, 1988. Temperature records in Verkhoyansk date to 1885.
How far north do we go now to escape this extreme heat now that Climate Change has arrived?
Dangerous, record-setting coast-to-coast heat wave to peak this weekend
Mid-July is the hottest time of year for many in the Lower 48 states, but the historically intense heat dome that’s sprawled over the southern and western U.S. is exceptional and pushing temperatures into uncharted territory. Triple-digit temperatures are expected to impact at least 10 states into the weekend, with cities such as Phoenix, Las Vegas, Fresno and Salt Lake City flirting with all-time records.
On Friday, nearly 115 million Americans are under heat alerts from South Florida to the interior of Washington state. This number could grow over the weekend when excessively hot weather will peak and cover the most territory.
The unforgiving heat wave has already set records for longevity from Florida to Arizona and shows little sign of easing
It is not just the heat. What about flooding in some areas? Wildfires? What about hurricanes? What about extreme thunderstorms? Is anyone in government working on Climate Change that is here now a problem we have to deal with including inspecting power grids and other things that are affecting lives other than that dummy Donald. I guess if some of these deniers can deny January 6th, they can deny we are in Climate Change. In the meantime, Medicaid patient cuts are happening in Florida. When did people get so unbelievably stupid?
