You know how I feel about veterans. You know how I feel about racism. You know how I feel about sexism. I am a Democrat. Why is the head of the Democratic Party in Virginia trying to make Florida’s Dem party look like California or New York’s Dem Party? Are they trying to outdo Desanti’s’s Florida? Appears so. Not a good look...Let me tell you.
On Memorial Day, a qualified veteran, more than qualifed, is willing to run in a district she could win was told she could not be on Virgina’s ballot for her district. On Memorial Day for Goodness sake? What a kick in the teeth. Jim Crow in the face in my opinion.
The Democratic Party in Virginia will not put her on the ballot. Well, the republican wins this district by default by having only a republican on the ballot.
Zen Trainer wrote on this several days back and June 20th is the deadline and there is no movement to get her on the ballot from the Democratic Party in Virginia. So what are they doing? Working for Republicans? A question I am asking with sincere concern. They are just giving this seat away and you can’t make sense out of nonsense so what is happening here? Democrats working for Republicans is a sure way to lose our democracy and one district, one governor, one president is how it starts because all politics are local.

Away to get on the ballot, if there is no primary in your district, is to step up during a window. This year the window is from April 6th- June 20th.
The Democratic committees in the county do a “call to caucus”, sort of a “Hey, everyone, who wants to run?” The call to caucus lasts a week or so. Every county is different; in every instance so far, they have asked for a range from $0 to $250, sometimes refundable, no signatures required.
Well, except for one, Jasmine Lipscomb. She stepped up to run during the call to caucus and was told by her county district committee that she needed to pay a nonrefundable $500 and gather 100 signatures. WTF?!?!
Now, according to the rules of the Party Plan of the Democratic Party of Virginia:
If no one is chosen by the local committee party caucus anyone who is a Democrat can step up to run. The committee then names by acclamation. (me, paraphrasing rule 10.6)
Jasmine Lipscomb stepped up to run, during the call to caucus, but didn’t have the $500.
I’m not sure what the committee's problem is. They have a choice let this “imperfect candidate” (in their eyes I guess) run, OR, let the Republican candidate win without an opponent. Let him skate through while spending his war chest in other districts helping other Republicans win.
Our own Brainwrap has this district as R+6, possibly winnable by a Democrat. He’s working hard to help Dems win in VA.
She got the 500.00… Still no movement from the State party to put her on the ballot. Only a snotty unsupportive letter.
What is going on here with this Democratic or DINO party when they have a distinguished marine vet and single mother who is willing to pay the 500.00, get on the ballot and run against the republican, and they claim the window has closed. No it doesn’t close until June 20th so the clock is ticking. Why are they acting like they are pulling for the Republican to take this district in Virginia? Is it because she is a black, a female or a veteran? What is the real story here? I have issues with dissing her regarding all three of these. We don’t need for Dems to be acting in such a Republican manner. It is my understanding to be put on the ballot you have to be annointed by the party like knighthood to have that D put by your name on the ballot? I keep asking why are they dissing her so. They are acting like she hurt their fee fees and jutting their jaws with folded arms and saying “ Won’t let you run” My Goodness who is running the state party? 6th graders?
This is going to take some real grassroots efforts with donations and I surely wish money was out of the picture because it is like we have to pay to have a democracy. THAT IS NOT WHAT THE FOUNDERS INTENDED. ONLY REPUBLICANS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THIS GREEDY AND STUBBORN. SO THE ONLY THING I CAN FIGURE IS THEY WANT THAT REPUBLICAN UNOPPOSED. They have no one willing to run but her. Why are they not responding to calls to put her on the ballot?
Susan Swecker is useless as a party leader in Virgina and might as well go start campaiging for the incumbent. Let me tell you Virginia does not want to start acting like Florida but they sure are turning in that direction. iNDIRECTLY THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE Virginia party is doing by allowing the incumbent run unopposed without lifting a finger. They are indirectly campaiging for the Repub.
All politics are local and every democrat nationwide needs to be throwing a hissy fit with the Virginia Democratic Party. What if all the Dem
parties nationwide start acting like Virginia and more like Florida? It could happen you know.
Get behind Jasmine. She stood for every single American on foreign soil. She is a paralegal. She is qualified. This party leader needs to be replaced but there is not enough time to kick her butt to the curb before putting Jasmine on the ballot.

Reading that letter should want to make us all throw some money in the hat.
A veteran came to aid with the 500.00 Not enough for obviously to suit the state Dem Party. When we see something bad in our own party we need to call it out. That is something Republicans would never do. We are supposed to be better than that. Call out incompetence or just plain bigotry.
Read this letter and don’t just get mad….Show your power with a couple of dollars.
I guess they felt because she was too uppity as they would put it, and she was intimidating, mostly because she knew the rules of the party, better than they. Who treats their own willing party candidate this way? Hell, they are not even giving her a chance to lose, much less win.
She has the 500 but they won’t listen. I am wondering if the National Party knows of this outrage….In the meantime, donate..donate donate and then lets call out this useless party. Racism or Sexism much? Just rolling over and giving it to the Repubicans. Who do you think this Party chair is representing? Certainly not the democrat. It isn’t just migrants being shipped from Florida all over the country, sounds to me like a lot of red koolaid is coming up from Florida as well.
VIRGINIA DEMS...STAND UP TO THIS !!!!!! Democrats everywhere, stand up to this. If it’s money to get her on the ballot…. Give her some dollars and this is how we thank a Veteran. Put them in a position of power if they are willing. She is willing.
