I have read numerous stories about MSNBC and CNN and their commentaries.
We are the smart party IMO. We do not need commentary or translators to opine of what we just viewed. Fox News has been playing the propaganda game for a long time. MSNBC and CNN are just trying to play catch up. If you think about it, I am sure you will agree that these shows are not much different from reality shows. What is obvious is the fact these so called journalists are paid hacks intentionally in position to make you question your own ability to view a candidate and take away what you will.
C-Span always shows the REAL news and the REAL event with opinions only from actual viewers. Viewers can comment and say what is on their mind and not challenged with the anchor’s own over talking and opinion. Do not bother with the Cable news to give you more than sound bytes and what they feel you need to watch. Talk is cheap but talk is also dangerous when given a platform of the ability to undermine a process with talking points from a few high paid
anchors that hold a mic and demand, “ Look and Listen to Me because you did not understand what you just heard”.
I started watching C-Span and calling in as early as the mid 90’s. I was a frequent caller. I got to speak directly to people like ( D) Jim McDermott on Morning Journal, or other legislators who did have a great influence over our voices. I am no more important than you. I just called in and was given respect. I suggest we all stop watching the paid pundits and start doing. Call in to C-Span give your opinions.. Trust me, they will respect your voice and do respect your viewership.
I do not need Rachel, or Jake , Wolf or any other anchor tell me what I need to take away from something as important as a National Convention. I come from a time when News was News. I come from a time when News was not an opinion column and ongoing 24/7. They will not give an opinion of what was seen. They report and you decide. That is it !!! Stop raising your blood pressure by watching these props trying to influence you. Of course if you watch C-span and listen to the nutcases calling in, you may still get a BP rise but you can call in and counter their hate. You can also mute their voices.
I remember during the Bush/Kerry election cycle, I had the honor to have the C-Span School bus leave the Miami presidential debates and drive to Villa Rica, Ga to give me the C-span award as being one of 25 winning essays and it won internationally. I was told last year C-Span had the winners pics on their walls up until just recently and I was so honored to being given the opportunity to reconnect with Matt McGuire who walked my daughter and me through the C-Span studios and talk about news and the importance of such a station being a service to the people and this was during the Correspondence Dinner in DC. They did not have to be so gracious to one person and her daughter to learn more about the inner workings of journalism and the history of the capitol hearings and an honest to goodness civic lesson.
Do your self a real service and watch C-span to get your news about the legislative process. Forget the commentators. Do your own interpretation and if you want to hear dissent or attributes, then tune in to Washington Journal, where you will be given a voice. . Don’t waste your energy. We are smart enough to not require an interpretation and breakdown of what we saw.
