It is not just the voters. Florida dems are tired of being written off.

I see all kinds of things like Bugs Bunny sawing us off in a cartoon.   I hear people from the left saying, “You get what you deserve but that is not true”.  This came from an NPR story and explains a lot but don’t brow beat us and say some of us aren’t working our tails off because we are.

There is also that our state is sick and if you folks aren’t careful, the whole country will be run by this man and don’t say it can’t happen.  We got Trump didn’t we?

Most of the work is done by the AME Churchs and dedicated grassroots.

t's all about the money Statewide turnout was down by more than half a million votes compared to 2018. Karp blames a lot of this lack of motivation among Democratic voters in Florida on money.

Tessa Petit, executive director of an immigrants rights group called the Florida Immigrant Coalition, said the electoral arm of her group was pleading with national donors to help them get out the vote. But she and other groups fell millions of dollars short in fundraising.

"The investment went down a lot," Petit said. "The donors pulled back because I think they kind of — I don't know maybe they lost faith in the party altogether."

Four years ago, money was flowing into Florida for groups like the Florida Immigrant Coalition, Petit said. That year, DeSantis won the governor's race by a mere .04% of the vote.

Petit said this lack of funding is why Miami Dade County in particular saw a 10 percentage point drop in turnout this year compared to the last midterm election. Because of the diversity in the state, she said, it takes a lot of money to get out the vote in communities of color. Petit said this is why national donors should not pick and choose what years to invest here if they want to see results.

Voting rights laws may have had an impact In examining the results of the election, voting rights groups and Democrats in Florida say there was a toxic environment around voting this year created by Republicans.

Karp said in the past two years DeSantis signed two voting bills that went from making it harder for third party groups to register voters to "making it harder to collect the absentee ballots and drop them off for people who might have trouble accessing a polling location."

Florida Governor Signs Law That Limits Voting By Mail And Ballot Drop Boxes POLITICS Florida Governor signs law that limits voting by mail and ballot drop boxes Karp said he was most concerned, though, by DeSantis' announcement earlier this year that his new election crimes unit arrested 20 people who voted in 2020. In interviews, those individuals said they thought they were allowed to vote because the state gave them a voter registration card.

Bullard said this created a "chilling effect" among some voters who, at one point, were in trouble with the law.

"What we were hearing on the ground was people who had the right to vote feeling as though, 'If I did it, it might actually get me arrested again,' " he said.

Bullard and other Democratic and left-leaning groups say none of this, though, has deterred them from continuing their work in Florida. They say they hope the 2024 election will show Democratic donors that Florida is still a state worth investing in .......................................................................................................................... https://www.npr.org/...

We try but get little love.   It was bad under Scott.  It is worse under DeSantis.  The schools are  in bad shape, the healthcare is much to be desired and yes there is no State tax but the state makes up for it by adding fees, and all kinds of local taxes on utilities and such.  If you want to know where the corruption is abound, it is Florida and 800 mostly right winged nuts moving in daily.  There should be nationwide effort in full force to help Florida up off the ground because we have soooo many infiltrators that hate their blue areas coming into Florida daily and making it more difficult.  Florida should be in the 50 state strategy.

If you write off Florida, you have written yourselves off because what happens in Florida does not stay in Florida and I have said this numerous times.  DeSantis will run for president.  He may just win and that is more than a maybe if dems keep writing Florida off.  We need a rush of progressives and donors not only getting our backs but covering their own asses by the time the presidential  race is here.

The time is now to start helping Florida make some progress because we are here because so many wrote us off a long time ago.   I warned you all, you were just taking those 29 electoral votes and handing them to republicans which would give republicans all kinds of power nationwide.  Keep writing us off and see if the whole country doesn’t pay a high price for that snub,  WE ARE PART OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.  Last time I looked on that flag there were 50 stars.

We all cannot just leave Florida.  We have health issues, colleges, elderly, homes and the rich are voting repug so we all mostly have limited incomes but if anything, more progressives should be coming here, not leaving.  Why move?   The whole country will go Florida’s way if Florida keeps getting ignored.  We need help and we need it now.  It is like scolding a kid who doesn’t eat lunch at school when you give them no lunch money.  Think about it and do something about it.  We are the first under the fascist acting dictator that could possibly rule you all.
