The Obama administration attempted to build fences along the river anyway, but the treaty and the river’s floods forced the barrier to be placed so far into the interior of the United States that it has many holes to allow U.S. residents access to their property. These also provide an opportunity for border crossers.

Wasteful security has always been the compromise that non-nationalists give to nationalists to obtain a better immigration system, one that treats people humanely and allows more of them to enter and live here legally. The most optimistic case is that the president builds some kind of barrier and takes credit for the drop in illegal immigration that began a decade ago. Seizing victory, he allows some form of immigration reform palatable to moderate Republicans to pass.

EL PASO, Texas (CBS4) — The makeshift tunnel discovered by Texas Department of Transportation workers was built on the U.S. side of the border, according to Border Patrol officials.
The abandoned tunnel is roughly 25 yards long.
The media was not allowed all the way inside because of fear that the tunnel may cave in completely. It was discovered at a construction site behind an El Paso water treatment plant on Canal Road near the Santa Fe bridge.

Authorities discovered 224 border tunnels originating in Mexico from 1990 to March 2016, including 185 that entered the United States, according to the latest U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration annual survey. Many are shallow holes, but some are elaborately constructed with hydraulic lifts, water pumps and rail cars. The vast majority are in Arizona, where smugglers connect to underground drainage canals in Nogales, and in California, where construction noise generates less attention amid warehouses of an industrial area of San Diego, across from densely packed homes and businesses in Tijuana.
So here is the reality. Donald J. Trump, the smartest oh great one alive has decided a picket fenced wall costing billions of dollars that won’t work, will stop drugs and gangs from entering the border. In the meantime, we allow little children fleeing countries as refugees die and cage them as well while the drug lords are tunneling in. The Donald and his cohorts have got to be making money off this somehow and in the meantime, shut down the government costing families their wages.
How did we get here? Please someone tell me how can 35 percent of the country be this stupid? He is using that wall as a diversion and probably cash cow and people on the right still yell, “ Build the Wall”. OMG. Plug the tunnels but that ain’t working either.

His executive order on border security doesn't specifically address tunnels but notes that criminal organizations run sophisticated drug and human smuggling networks on both sides of the border. After going inside a San Diego tunnel underneath a highly fortified border fence last month, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly said drug profits were so enormous that smugglers would keep trying to burrow through
It figures they found a tunnel dug from ElPaso under an old KFC restaurant to the Mexican side after it caved in. 45 was probably munching on a Krispy wing and it got too dusty. I shake my head and say, Wake up stupid people and quit drinking the kool aid, it is poison to your brain cells. The next time a neighbor or family member mentions that stupid wall, remind them of the tunnels.
My 13 year old actually said, “Send that man some legos to play with or Lincoln logs. Let him think he alone is building something. He probably never got any as a kid. Let him Build with his legos. She may be on to something.
