I have thought this for most of my life that honor was more important than money. That may explain why I don’t have a lot of money. LOL. I am honorable. I say that with dignity and truth.
I have asked myself over and over...why is greed and power and money so important to most people? Do they think money can buy them happiness? Does honor or shame have no difference in meaning to people? There was a couple in Florida, 90 years of age this week that won the Lottery and they gave every single dime away. I wondered if that was honor or wisdom or both. I wondered if they had not been 90 would they have given the money to family and friends. Regardless it was honorable.
When people lie, cheat, steal and do all manner of wrong for money, what have they gained other than buying their choice of misery? Why would people who are billionaires and millionaires run for president? Why do Lobbyists run all over buying politicians to destroy our world? The streams do not need pollution to function. The birds do not need tainted food to survive. They do what nature intended for them to do. The birds fly, the streams roll into lakes and rivers. Most animals fight over bones when they are hungry...not when they have a plate of food. Why do people flock to folks like Trump? These people who run to the money and money folks have no honor. They have little respect for themselves and if that be true and I believe it is, how can they respect me? Or you?
I know I cannot be bought or rented. I know this. I will not compromise princples for a buck. I cannot accept the saying that all people have a price. I do not. There is not enough money in the world to make me do some things some people have not a second thought on doing. Have you ever really thought about where you stand with principle and values? It is an awesome awakening but a comfortable place once you know where you stand with you.
My grandfather used to say, ”Nobody will jump into hell for a dollar but will hang around the edges grabbing until they fall in”. I was molded partially by a wise old fellow. Money does not make class or happiness. It steals honor. At the end of the day, we are all placed in a deep hole or turned into ashes. The great equalizer…. The cradle and the grave. The dash between a birthdate and death date...says it all.
