This story could have gone in a much different direction but people are FED up with the bullying….
Not far from me, is a Walmart and a pregnant black woman was harrassed and bullied and basically white dude got as close to her that he was indeed a threat. An older black gentleman walks out of Walmart and sees this man harrassing this lady who is visibly pregnant and has a 15 year old in the car. ( privileged white guy felt he needed to get into Walmart faster than her daughter that she was teaching to drive and park was allowing him). In other words his white entitled him to try and intimidate these women by getting out of his car and scream and get in her space.
From what I got from the story where the link is attached…….Bully dude sure got a lot more than he bargained for. There is an open carry here in Florida and obviously white folks don’t understand that law they passed also applies to good guys who are POC.
Well, back to the story… An elder black man sees this woman he does not know being screamed and bullied and decides to get involved. This IMO is a MAN. He assess the situation while another customer whips out her cell phone and decides to video it. White coward did not expect to see the man confront him and the POC informed him not to make threats because he had a gun in his holster. When the bully inches closer to the female, He pulls the gun from the holster and has it by his side, never pointing it. The argument escalates. It appears whenbully backed up and not intimidating the pregnant woman , hero holsters his weapon. The white bully starts trying to intimidate the elder black fellow who some said was in his 60’s. Not too bright white wants to punch him in and did with the first blow to the gut… That didn’t last long as the protector punches him for a loop right in the eye and says, “ Come On”.
Brown, who holds a valid conceal-carry permit, said the aggressor threatened him, so he pulled out a handgun. For the next minute, they continued arguing, with the man telling Brown to put the gun away.
“You’re not a man,” he tells Brown in the video.
I guess he thought Brown was an animal. Hope this kind of man is around when we are out and about
Brown is seen positioning himself between the aggressor and Russell, who thanks Brown for coming to her aid. She sits in the passenger seat of her car while Brown and the man continue arguing.
“Go ahead,” Brown tells Russell. “I’ll protect you, don’t worry.”
In the meantime all of this is caught on video. ( People please video things as much as you can). Confusing End of story is this… White guy gets black eye…...Saying he wants to kill the black elderly gentleman and charges are brought against the white guy for assault and not the black fellow. Paper does not report charges but FB folks did. I don’t know. I know the perpetrator has not had his name released.
That is how a story is supposed to end. No injury….No arrest for the protector ( regardless of race) and a bully thrown in the slammer… (I hope) .Had it not all been on video….it could have turned out very differently. At least no one is dead.
I am happy Leesburg Police recognized lawful acts of that insane law we have on open carry and stand your ground. He was clearly protecting the pregnant woman and once he was hit protecting himself. Justice preserved this time in a small town.
