Why would this not work on gun control? I think it would.

Every year, you car has to be registered.   I feel the same should be done for guns.  Every year every gun has to be registered.   All guns...the same as all cars. A small tag can be placed on the handle of that year registration and filed.  It will be filed and taxed just like a car at the tax collectors office.

If you don’t register the gun….You lose it.  It will be towed so to speak and held for 60 days before disposal.  If you register it, it can be retained.  This would only apply to hunting rifles, hand guns that are not automatic and a complete ban on semi automatic weapon  and bump stocks.  To me, this is a solution along with job creation .  Any firearms not registered will be deemed illegal and confiscated.

This does not stop gun ownership but it does control it a bit.   Every single year, guns have to with no exceptions be registered and taxed.  We don’t complain about identifying vehicles on the road with a tag and we have to buy a tag every year for every vehicle and in most municipalities if a car is not tagged, it is towed.  Red flag laws in place and are on file with gun registration offices.

I think some of this would work.  I also feel the tax collected on the guns could help victims of gun violence.

How does a person register a firearm or remove a name from a firearms registration?

Only those firearms subject to the National Firearms Act (NFA) (e.g., machineguns, short–barreled rifles and shotguns, silencers, destructive devices, and firearms designated as “any other weapons”) must be registered with ATF.

Firearms registration may be required by state or local law. Any person considering acquiring a firearm should contact their State Attorney General’s Office to inquire about the laws
